August

Hi everyone
Well this has been a busy second half of the summer! After Sardinia Henry and I went Salmon fishing, while Elin Katla stayed with her grandparents. I got my first Salmon jibbi jey!!! It was fab! Pictures will follow soon. It was such an amazing trip – extremely difficult though – lots of walking and standing in the middle of a cold river. Up very early and very late to bed – LOTS of good food and maybe a bit to much of alcohol but hey that is what these Salmon fishing men do so of course I had to do the same (although one afternoon after three course lunch and lots of wine I admit I fell asleep on the river bank!). Meanwhile Elin Katla was treated like a princess by her grandparents.

Last week Eleni came from London for a long weekend to visit us which was fab. THANKS so much for coming over Eleni we really loved having you around!!! I forgot to explain to Elin Katla that Eleni would be gone when she was back from nursery on Monday – and she was SOOOOO upset when she realized her suitcase was gone from the guestroom and Eleni was gone! So there were lots of tears and crying poor little thing. So Eleni you HAVE TO come to Guyana I have already told Elin you will come to visit us:) The weekend was so nice. On the Friday night we went to Stokkseyri to a restaurant which has only lobster lobster and more lobster on the menu. It was really good and cakes after yummi!. We had a bid of a scare on the way back as the weather turned really nasty – foggy – windy and really heavy rain – and it is still August!!! Basically Eleni had every kind of weather you can have here in Iceland over these few days and it kept changing every hour – there was even a bit of a hail storm – and of course it happened while we were in the swimming pool – ouch. So for all of you who are coming for a visit over the next couple of months be prepared for everything! On Saturday we cheered on the Marathon and the half Marathon runners as they passed our street – and later in the day we hit town as there was the cultural night of Reykjavik. We basically walked up and down the streets for 9-10 hours – seeing people – listening to lots of different bands play in the streets – went to a gallery opening – saw some Baltic cultural dance – Elin Katla went horseback riding – and listened to our friend Brynhildur sing Edith Piaf on the stairs of our national theater. Afterdinner and some wine we finished the night by seeing amazing fireworks. But by that time the weather gods thought they had given us enough of good weather that day and opened for the tap and we fled home. On the Sunday we had two christenings we had to attend so Eleni was so LUCKY to go to one family do and one friend’s do on the Sunday.

Now we are really starting to gear our selves up for the move, we have already found someone to rent our flat, which is such a relief. Although I must admit it is not exciting to have to pack again! The third time in just two years!! At least it is Friday again jibbi! Only two children’s birthday party this weekend – one leaving do for a friend and a big dancing party with a very popular pop-band on Saturday – so once again a full packed weekend! Great fun. One of the birthday parties is of my little niece Regina, she turned one couple of days ago. For those of you who know her story I can tell you she went to Boston yet again in July but so far so good – it is all looking ok for the moment – she will have to go again this winter but she is looking good and feeling happy so that is the main thing;)
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Sardinia - London

We are back in Iceland after fab holiday in Sardinia and a stop over in London!

After spending a very nice chilled out weekend with Georgina - where we went swimming - showed her the Reykjavik nightlife - had coffees and just hanged out we jumped on a plane and went to Sardinia via one night stop in London.

What can I say - it was absolutely fab!! such a nice nice nice holiday with superb friends!!

We stayed in a lovely house - which had a very large private garden and a private beach - and the sea was just amazing.
We played in the sea - in the swimming pool - made castles and cakes on the beach - ate lots of good food and enjoyed our selves to the full - thank you SO MUCH Sophie - Vilmos and Carla for inviting us along!
On our way back we had two days in London - which we used to the full - unfortunately we couldn´t hang out in Holland Park as previously planned due the London summer weather;) but we managed to meet all the 'girls' and Pat;) which was so nice and also spent some time with Heidrun.

And now we are back in Iceland - slowly starting to prepare for the next move! and looking forward to have more friends over from London for a visit. Eleni is coming over in a weeks time - don´t worry Eleni you don´t need to run the Marathon we will just take it slowly;)

It has been a while since she was last on a plane a whole 7 months - which is a lot for a girl who went 20 times on a plane in the first 19 months of her life! and she loved it!!

As you can see this is a very well travelled girl!
just landed in Heathrow

Ready for the Italian sea! we started in a very nice hotel in Alghero in Sardinia

Playing in the sand with Carla on one of the many incredible nice beaches in Sardinia
