Til hamingju með afmælið afi Bjarni!

fimmtudagur, ágúst 30, 2007

Home sweet home. Or whatever. Dear old Georgetown has greeted us back from our holidays with its unique brand of colonial charm and thigh moistening warmth. Fortunately, last weeks floods had receded when we returned (the houses of some of our friends let in more than 30 cm of floodwater) but blackouts, water shortages and prison breaks have all lifted our spirits this week. Elin Katla has not yet started school and thus spends her morning with her father at the coffee house playing cards, reading the New Yorker and listing to his lectures on pre-critical idealism and the relative benefits of espresso drinking. On the other front, Regina has realized that the Bob Geldof School of international aid is probably spot on. Hence, Bob’s First Rule of Working in Development (aka FRoWD): we all hate Mondays.föstudagur, ágúst 24, 2007

Apparently, this weblink directs one to a LIVE videolink from the beach the Henryssons shall be staying at in Grenada.

Þá fer Regína að pakka niður Gisele sandölunum sínum og halda til Grenada. Þetta er ströndin sem við verðum á. Namm. Reyndar var fellibylurinn Dean að ganga yfir þarna rétt hjá þannig að það gæti verið minna um pálmatré þegar við lendum. Ef við lendum. Flugsamgöngur í Karabíska hafinu eru brokkgengar þegar best lætur eins og lesendur þessa bloggs rennur kannski minni til. Það gæti tekið þær nokkra daga að jafna sig í sitt skipulega kaos eftir eitt stykki fellibyl. Hvað um það. Ferðasagan mun birtast hérna eftir rúmlega viku. Bestu kveðjur frá okkur öllum þangað til.
Regina is in the process of luggageing her Gisele Bundchen sandals, while the rest of the Henryssons pack their less glamorous beachwear. Yes, we are going to Grenada this weekend for a week! If we can make this holiday hurricane and flight disruption free it is going to be awesome. We are renting a cottage next to the Calabash Hotel, sharing the beach (see picture) and in short walking distance from the Hotel's Gary Rhodes run Michelin starred restaurant. Hurray! The saga of our Caribbean adventure will follow in due time.
